If you find it difficult to play balls on steep slopes then you should definitely think twice before playing the Oberon Golf Course - or better still spend some time with your coach before visiting. This is one hell of a challenging course and I'd reckon it would give Tiger Wood an anxious thought or two. The course winds around a number of deep valleys that lead to and from Lake Oberon. On the day I played the course a number of greens were under repair. I was also driven off the course by an approaching thunderstorm and that is why I am unable to show you photos of a full nine holes. The views are spectacular and many Golf Club Presidents looking at these pictures will be green with envy. I was fascinated to read the following comments in the Local Rules: "All balls coming to rest in snow may be lifted and dropped in the clear, not nearer the hole, without penalty". Oberon is a lovely town to visit and is on the top of the Blue Mountains. The town has a very nice caravan park is you are travelling with your van. Bookings can be made by telephoning the Club on 02 6336-0262. Photos on this page were taken on the 3rd September, 2006.
